Hi Carol, I'm sorry it's taken a while to get back to you with the words to "Gong", but it has been a busy time for me because of Christmas and everything. I sort of knew two verses myself, but the third verse I could not work out. So, I emailed the Fleur De Lys member Gordon Haskell at his home on the island of Skopelos in Greece. He wrote the song using lyrics from Edward Lears Nonsense poems. Anyway, today he sent me back the elusive third verse so here it all is. Don't forget to look at my website, as there should be some clips of film from the book signing night at the 100 Club in London going on there any time now.
"Ten long years ago, the Gong was happy and gay
'til he fell in love with a Jumblie girl who came to shore one day,
Wandering through the forest went the Gong with the Luminous Nose.
Playing his pipe with silvery sqeaks, looking for his Jumblie girl,
But she's gone away in a plastic sieve to quite another world,
Over the hills of Shankley Bore, went the Gong with the Luminous Nose.
Landing at eve near the Zemmery Fidd, just where the Jumblies live,
Oblong oysters growing in that Grambolian sieve,

Olá Carol, desculpe a demora em responder com a letra de "Gong", mas estive muito ocupado por conta do Natal e tudo mais. Eu meio que sabia dois versos, mas o terceiro não conseguia lembrar de jeito nenhum. Então, mandei um e-mail para o membro da Fleur de Lys, Gordon Haskell, em sua casa na ilha de Skopelos, na Grécia. Ele fez a música usando uma letra de uma dos poemas nonsense de Edward Lear. De qualquer modo, hoje ele me enviou o esquecido terceiro verso então aqui está. Não esqueça de entrar no meu site, já que lá devem estar disponíveis por esses dias alguns trechos em vídeo da noite de autógrafos no 100 Club em Londres.

Hello Keith! How were the end of year holidays? Hope everything was fine!
I'm so happy you answered me, indeed very very happy! Les Fleur de Lys has been my favourite band for quite a while and Gong was always a very difficult song to understand. You see, I'm an English teacher and I have a band called Bacchus (if you want to listen to us, I'll provide the links for our songs), we write in English, but still British is always very hard for me to understand. Gong is one of my faves, I just love the intro (when I discovered that Paul Weller actually used the same intro for his song 'Sunflower' I almost died). Now I'll sing my fave song correctly. I've read somewhere on the web that it was inspired by a Lear's poem and I love nonsense stuff, it's just so psychedelic!
I'll see the videos and let you know what I've tought about them. It must have been a great great night, I feel so unlucky to have been born in Brazil. But that's life.

Olá Keith! Como foram as festas de fim de ano? Espero que tenha passado bem!
Estou tão feliz por você ter me respondido, mesmo muito muito feliz! A Les Fleur de Lys tem sido minha banda favorita por um tempo e Gong sempre foi uma música muito difícil de entender. Veja bem, sou uma professora de inglês e tenho uma banda chamada Bacchus (se você quiser nos ouvir, eu passo os links das nossas músicas pra você), nós compomos em inglês, mas mesmo assim o britânico é sempre muito difícil para eu entender. Gong é uma das minhas favoritas, eu amo a introdução (quando descobri que o Paul Weller tinha usado a mesma introdução para a música 'Sunflower' quase morri). Agora vou cantar direito minha música favorita. Eu tinha lido em algum lugar na internet que ela tinha sido inspirada por um poema de Lear e eu adoro coisas nonsense, é tão psicodélico!
Eu verei os vídeos e te digo o que achei. Deve ter sido uma grande noite, me sinto tão azarada de ter nascido no Brasil. Mas é a vida.

Thank you very much, Kevin! He's already answered me and I'm so pleased to know it's been easy to keep contact with you two. Most part of the time artists just don't seem to care about their fans and Keith has been very nice. I'll see the videos!
